WELCOME TO 2A WITH MS. JAMIESON!
Background: My name is Alexandra Jamieson and this is my first year teaching Second Grade at St. Peter’s. I graduated with a degree in Spanish and International Studies from Davidson College in North Carolina. Currently, I am completing a Masters of Teaching Reading at the University of San Francisco. From 2004-2005, I taught Second Grade at St. Matthew’s School in Phoenix, Arizona.
Parent Communication: I am willing to discuss any questions, concerns and suggestions with parents. Most often, I will be in the classroom before and after school. Another way to get in touch with me is to send a note with your child or through email at aljamieson@gmail.com.
Homework: I believe that homework is essential to developing strong study skills and reinforcing those skills learned in class. I assign homework daily and expect it to be completed on time. I also would like my students to read each night.
Grading Policy: Three components make up my grading scale—class work, participation and effort. In Second Grade, it is imperative that students put as much effort as possible towards their class and school work.
Schedule: School begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. Please make an effort to have your child at school on time! Our usual day will begin with Language Arts in the morning, followed by Math, Religion, Social Studies and/or Science in the afternoon.
Discipline: My classroom environment is founded on respect and positive reinforcement. I want my class to feel like a community, and I hope that each child will treat others with kindness. Please also refer to the Student Handbook for the school’s policy.
I look forward to teaching 2A at St. Peter’s!
