I am very excited about this school year! I am enjoying getting to know every child in 5B. My goal is to be a model of both faith and academic achievement.
Learning about the children, while learning with them, makes
me a more enthusiastic educator. I hope this enthusiasm
for learning will continue with your child.
Below I have explained just a few important notes about "life in 5B."
HOMEWORK:
Homework is assigned every night, Monday through Friday. You can help ensure that your child completes all assignments by (1) providing a "study space" at home and (2) by checking your child's homework assignment notebook to see that all assignments are done. Homework is also a sign of the topics that are being covered in class.
One activity that your child should do each night is read. Reading will help too strengthen his/her writing skills, which will benefit your child as they create and write stories and reports of their own.
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR AND EXPECTATIONS:
To help instill a sense of responsibility into the children of 5A, the students are made aware of both behavioral and academic expectations. Not only are they expected to complete assignments neatly and on time, but they are also expected to be respectful, cooperative, and responsible for their actions and their belongings. Should there be any commendations or concerns, I will promptly notify parents. Similarly, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at school. I enjoy meeting with the families of all students!
SUNDAY MASS
I encourage you to attend mass with your child. As part of our religion class each Monday, we discuss the Gospel reading that was heard on Sunday. You can begin this discussion with your child at home. Not only will this activity provide an interesting topic of discussion, but also engage your child in practicing critical thinking skills and build awareness of Jesus as an example to live by. In addition, if your child writes a short paragraph on his/her thoughts on the Gospel, I awared an extra credit point towards their religion grade.
WELCOME DONATIONS
We always welcome any donated paper for the school copy machine. Baby wipes and sponges are also very helpful, as we often need to clean up sticky desks after eating lunch in class!
