Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to 8B! My name is Ms. Kinney and I will be your son/daughter's primary eighth grade teacher. I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I'm looking forward to a happy and productive school year. It is my goal to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun, experience in my classroom.
Eighth grade is a very demanding year. In preparation for the High School Entrance Exam and graduation, we will be focusing on many core subjects. Students should expect a total of 75-90 minutes of homework a night, Monday through Thursday. Homework will not be given on the weekends or holidays, but students will be expected to review content, prepare for tests and work on ongoing projects on weekends. Each student will need 5 single subject notebooks, blue or black pens and pencils. These materials should be brought to class every day. Hopefully, your child has brought home their course syllabus and you have both read it. If you have any questions regarding the syllabus, please contact me.
I have extremely high expectations of all my students. I am asking for your help to maintain those expectations by checking with your child periodically to make sure that his/her work is being done. Please ensure that you child arrives at school on time. I do not accept late work. In the event of an absence your child will have two school days to make up any missed assignments or tests.
This year the eighth grade will be adopting the theme of St. Peter and God's love. Your child will be working on projects surrounding this theme, focusing on God's love and showing God's love to those around them.
If you have any questions, concerns, if you would like to visit our classroom, schedule a conference, or volunteer, you can contact me at 415-647-8662 or pkinney@sanpedro.org
Sincerely,
Ms. Kinney
