This question and answer format has been chosen to briefly answer some of the questions that are most commonly asked in regard to our parochial school.

1. WHO MAY APPLY FOR ADMISSION TO ST. PETER'S SCHOOL?

Anyone may apply for admission to St. Peter's School.  The school seeks to meet the educational needs of active practicing Catholic/Christian families.

2.  WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR ACCEPTANCE?

Application must have:
1) verification of birth and baptism,
2) be accompanied by the last report card.
If there is space available in a desired grade, then the application is reviewed.  A readiness test is required of all students under consideration for acceptance.  Completed health requirements must be verified by physician and form submitted before child can begin class.

3.  WHAT KIND OF TESTING DO THE CHILDREN RECEIVE?

The children are tested by the classroom teacher, who is seeking to determine the readiness of the youngster in a given grade.  This brief testing, along with review of the last report card, assist St. Peter's in screening for special needs. If special needs do seem present, the school must then evaluate if these needs can be effectively addressed at St. Peter's School.

Kindergarten and first grade testing are based on a developmental approach. The Brigance test is administered by the kindergarten teacher.  The children's maturity and readiness to learn reading skills are evaluated.

Preschool is very helpful in preparing a child for kindergarten.

4.  ARE THERE ANY FEES ATTACHED TO APPLICATION?

Yes, the testing fee is $20.00 non-refundable.

If the student is accepted, a non-refundable fee of $300.00 per student is required upon registration.

5.  HOW IS TUITION PAID?

The tuition for the year is divided into ten installments due prior to the fifteenth of each month- beginning with August.

6.  IS TUITION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE?

Yes, an application form for Basic Fund must be completed and submitted to the principal.

7.  DO THE STUDENTS RECEIVE RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION?

Yes, every grade level receives daily religious instruction.  St. Peter's School uses an integrated approach to religious instruction.  In addition to the set time for religion, Catholic values and faith instruction permeates all other academic courses.  Catholic community is lived at St. Peter's School.  Students are encouraged to actively live the Gospel message discussed in the classroom.

Students pray and worship together on a daily basis.  Children in grade two are prepared for First Eucharist.  Grade two through four children prepare for Reconciliation. All classes  receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation two times a year.

8.  ARE THE TEACHERS AT ST. PETER'S SCHOOL CREDENTIALED?

All classroom teachers are credentialed.  Several have advanced degrees.

9.  DO THE CHILDREN WEAR UNIFORMS?

Yes.  Students are required to purchase a full uniform.  Uniform information may be obtained at the school office.

10.  WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?

Grades K - 8:   8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

11.  IS THERE CAFETERIA SERVICE?

Students may purchase snacks or hot lunches daily.

1. QUIENES PUEDEN APLICAR PARA ASISTIR A LA ESCUELA DE SAN PEDRO?

Toda persona puede aplicar para asistir a la escuela de San Pedro.  La escuela procura alcanzar todas las necesidades educativas de toda familia catolica Cristiana.

2. CUAL ES EL PROCESO DE ADMISION?

La aplicacion tiene que venir con 1) certificado de nacimiento y bautizo, 2) Las ultimas calificaciones. Y si hay lugar en el grado deseado, entonces la aplicacion sera revisada.  Un examen escrito es necesario para todo estudiante con posibilidad de admision.  Certificado de salud aprovado por un medico tiene que ser entregado antes de comenzar la escuela.

3. QUE CLASE DE EXAMEN RECIBEN LOS NINOS?

A los ninos se les hace una prueba para determinar la capacidad academica de cada estudiante para el grado determinado.  El pequeno examen y las ultimas calificaciones ayuda a San Pedro a definir si hay necidades especiales.  Si esto ocurre la escuela tiene que evaluar si estas necesidades pueden ser tratadas efectivamente en la escuela de San Pedro.

Kindergarten y primer grado son examinados a base de desarrollo mental. Y es administrado por la profesora del kinder.  La madurez y aptitud en sus habilidades para aprended a leer tambien son evaluadas.

Pre-kindergarten sirve de orientacion para que sus hijos entren al kindergarten.

4. SE NECESITA ENVIAR PAGA CON LA APLICACION?

Si, precio del examen es $20.00 - no reembolsable

Si el estudiante es aceptado la cantidad de $300.00 por cada alumno es necesario para la matricula y no es reembolsable.

5. COMO SE PAGA LA COLEGIATURA?

La colegiatura anual es dividida entre diez pagos mensuales pagaderos antes del 15 de cada mes - empezando en Agosto.

6. OFRECE SAN PEDRO AYUDA FINANCIERA?

Si, una vez la aplicacion de Basic Fund sea procesada debe ser entregada a la directora.

7. RECIBEN LOS ESTUDIANTES INSTRUCCION RELIGIOSA?

Si, todos los grados y todos los dias reciben instruccion religiosa.  San Pedro usa y se propone a integrar la instruccion religiosa.  Ademas determina tiempo para religion, meritos Catolicos y Fe afecta los demas cursos academicos.  La comunidad Catolica es vivida por la Escuela de San Pedro.  Los estudiantes son animados y fortalecidos a vivir activamente el mensaje evangelico discutido en las clases.

Los estudiantes rezan y hacen reverencias a Dios diaramente.  los ninos del segundo grado son preparados para la primera eucaristia.  Del segundo grado al cuarto se preparan para reconciliacion. Todas las clases reciben el sacramento de Reconciliacion dos veces al año.

 Todos los maestros tienen que obtener un certificado de religion de la arquidiosecis de San Francisco, como un requisito.

8. TODOS LOS MAESTROS DE SAN PEDRO TIENE SUS CREDENCIALES?

Si, todos los maestros tienen sus credenciales.  Varios tienen hasta titulos mas avanzados.

9. TIENEN LOS ESTUDIANTES QUE USAR UNIFORMES?

Si, los estudiantes necesitan usar uniforme completo.  Si necesita informacion sobre los uniformes comuniquese con la oficina.

10. CUALES SON LAS HORAS ESCOLARES?

Grado K - 8:   8:00 - 3:00

11. TIENEN SERVICIO DE CAFETERIA?

Si, todos los estudiantes pueden comprar diariamente sus refigerios y sus almuerzos.
